The Scribes of Unixploria

THE SCRIBES

If you love to read, you can learn to write; if you love to write, you have come to the right place.

Most people use the language daily without contemplating what they've done. The Scribes of Unixploria is a society of writers that offers you a space to continue maneuvering your language choices and understand why you make them.

Writing fiction, poetry, scripts, plays, and nonfiction allows you to explore how to manipulate language meaningfully - alongside people who share your passion.

The Society advises beginners and professional writers; we do not discriminate against linguistic barriers. The common language in our group is English, but we have members from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

We meet regularly to discuss themes, practices, and plots and argue about the meaning of words, character controversy, and the balance of genres and free-formed thoughts. Whether perfecting your magnum opus or looking for some light-hearted fun, our meetings offer something for everyone.

Official Translators to the Government of Unixploria

The Government of Unixploria has assigned us to translate official documents to other languages if a citizen requires a copy in a language other than English.

VERBA VOLANT,

SCRIPTA MANENT

Verba volant, scripta manent is a Latin proverb. Translated, it means "spoken words fly away, written words remain."

This proverb originates from a speech of Senator Caius Titus to the Roman Senate. The general meaning is that spoken words might easily be forgotten, while written documents can always be relied on for conclusive proof.

The Scribes of Unixploria have taken this proverb to heart and consider the printed word superior to oral statements. We believe the printed word has proven its value and endured the test of time.
